Onderdeel van dezelfde lijn is de ProLite XUB2792QSU-B1. Die noemden we toen al, maar bespreken we nu in een aparte review. Dit model onderscheidt zich van de kleine broer door een grotere diagonaal en dito resolutie, maar heeft ook een heel bescheiden prijs. Het segment van zogenaamde wide quad hd monitoren (2560x1440 beeldpunten) staat aardig onder druk nu ultra hd-modellen steeds goedkoper worden. Waren 27-inch wqhd-exemplaren met ips-paneel jarenlang het neusje van de zalm voor liefhebbers van veel werkruimte en bovengemiddelde beeldkwaliteit, inmiddels is een prijs van circa 500 euro voor zo'n model lastig te verantwoorden als je voor hetzelfde geld ook een ultra hd-monitor in huis haalt, zelfs met een ips-paneel. Ondertussen is het lastig om deze modellen heel veel goedkoper te maken, de paneelprijs daalt niet snel en de prijs van zaken als een behuizing, voet en scaler blijven constante factoren. We hebben wel de nodige betaalbare modellen met een tn-paneel gezien, die inmiddels een prijs rond de 300 euro hebben, maar ips-exemplaren zijn toch nog wat duurder. De laatste tijd hebben we wel diverse betaalbaardere modellen hiermee getest, en de eerste die we bespreken is deze Iiyama ProLite XUB2792QSU-B1. Deze monitor staat al in de Prijsvergelijker voor een bedrag van net geen 380 euro, gemiddeld kost hij net wat minder dan 400 euro - dat is ook de officiële adviesprijs. Voor dat geld heb je een uhd-monitor met een tn-paneel, of wellicht in een aanbieding een uhd-model met ips, maar dan een uitgeklede monitor op een simpele voet zonder al teveel aansluitingen. Daar is natuurlijk ook wat voor te zeggen, maar dat geldt ook zeker voor de ergonomische en aansluitmogelijkheden die dit scherm van Iiyama biedt. Zoals we vaker zeggen, er valt tegenwoordig gelukkig echt wat te kiezen als je een nieuwe monitor zoekt.
